In the prestigious British Construction Industry Awards hosted at Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 11 October, we were crowned IPA’s Industry Innovation Champion – a Government backed construction award supported by the Infrastructure Projects Authority. We collected our trophy in front of more than 1,000 of the UK’s leading clients, consultants and contractors – beating Balfour Beatty Vinci, Sellafield and a joint venture between Alice Technologies, Skanska, Costain and Strabag – some of the biggest and most respected names in the sector.
After presenting to a panel of expert judges – they were unanimous in recognising Brilliant Ideas ‘motivation for innovation and invention driven solely from a desire to do the best for people and the planet’. We were also shortlisted as finalists for three innovations in the category Product Innovation of the Year. The event is jointly organised by New Civil Engineer and the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Heading north the following evening for Manchester’s Building Innovation Awards we walked away with a double win for Most Innovative Supplier, and Most Innovative New Product for ALIMATS® – ALIMATS® load spread solution for MEWPS. The Awards celebrate the individuals and companies who have embraced innovation as a way of transforming the UK construction industry. The host was former athletics star turned media presenter and speaker, Kriss Akabusi MBE.
Our CEO and inventor, Chris Massey said: “We are stunned and delighted to have scooped these awards for innovation – especially the British Construction Industry flagship award where we were punching well above our weight. Some of the names we were up against are the largest in construction and also happen to be our clients. To be recognised by the judges for our commitment and investment in developing pioneering sustainable innovations – symbolises this incredible achievement. It’s fair to say we’re made up with our awards and fully enjoyed celebrating at the after-show parties”.
Chris began developing safer, quicker and cheaper problem-solving innovations more than 30-years ago to challenge the traditional way of doing things to drive the industry forward. These multi award-winning products are used by Altrad, Balfour Beatty, Galliford Try, Morgan Sindall, Severfield, BAM, Costain, Willmott Dixon, Bison Precast, FP McCann and Kier.
