Stacker Packers, our engineered levelling shim with a high compressive strength
Designed and manufactured in the UK, Stacker Packers are an engineered levelling shim with a high compressive strength. Made from certified material with UV stabilisers they are independently load tested up to 14.5 tonnes.
The Stackers unique interlocking profiles ensures safe and stable structure during installation. Our shims can be stacked to create the desired packing height to provide support on steel frame buildings, precast concrete components, modular pods and buildings.
They’ve been used on Barcelona Cathedral, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Anfield Main Stand, Wimbledon Court One and Emirates Stadium.

Perimeter profile allows adjustment of the shim stack away from the trapping zone. With other systems this isn’t possible.
Inbuilt dowels allow the shims to interlock horizontally and vertically, forming a safe and stable shim structure, which doesn’t slip against each other under load
With sideways connection, the shims can be increased in length and width to give even greater stability
Projecting inbuilt dowels are designed to depress under load, leaving a flat surface with no high points
High compressive strength, impact resistant and shatterproof
Box of Stackers weighs 12kg. Equivalent volume of steel shims weighs circa 180kg and difficult to move around site. Steel shims don’t interlock.

We’ve already used thousands of them on a Premier League football club development project, and we intend to use them again on our forthcoming projects. Stacker Packers is a great product.

How Stacker Packers work in practice
Stacker Packers vs Steel Shims: What's the difference?
In construction, there’s often a need to build up height shortfalls, i.e., when levelling stairs and terraces. The packers or shims that are currently used are difficult to stack, easily slide off each other and are difficult to position because of their unstable nature, leading to trapped fingers.
Brilliant Ideas Stacker Packers solves this problem. Our Packers have been moulded with higher dowels which fit into matching recesses, keeping the stack together. Once pressure is applied to the topmost/exposed dowels, they’re designed to collapse into the gap below giving a full and level surface area, with no high points. When setting your final position, connect the edge keys which lock into one another and then, sliding the stack into position, twist the packer to disconnect.
HCC County Highways Laboratory carried out simple compression tests and TWI Ltd carried out compression tests whereby the stress/strain relationship was analysed and recorded during the test. Shim stack heights ranged from 25mm to 100mm.
Under a 14.65T load test, the 50mm stack height from HCC and TWI recorded post-test vertical deformation at -0.38% and -0.36% respectively. We recommend for shim stacks up to 50mm high the Stackers compressive strength value should be taken as: 30N/mm² (under factored loads).
