Brilliant Ideas Wins Excellence in Innovation Award at 2024 Derbyshire Business Awards

It’s true to say that when it comes to the awards season, we’re quite big fans. So we are delighted to have won the Excellence in Innovation at the 2024 East Midlands Chamber’s Derbyshire Business Awards.

This particular award recognises companies who have used innovation as a tool to improve business performance, efficiency improvements and customer impacts.

Rolls Royce were the sponsors of this category and part of their judging criteria is visiting those who have been shortlisted. Three people from the Rolls Royce team came to see us at our carbon neutral training centre to see what we’re all about and for a demo of some of our innovations.

Organised annually by East Midlands Chamber, the black-tie gala held at Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium on Friday 25 October and hosted by ITV presenter Emma Jesson showcased standout businesses in the county across 13 categories, which included Outstanding Growth, Commitment to People Development and Excellence in Customer Service – along with Excellence in Innovation.

When our Chris Massey, the CEO and inventor at our firm went up to collect our award he said, "We set up Brilliant Ideas in 2017 to make safety products to help everyone working on construction sites. Sometimes we innovate by working with local businesses like Derby University. The Midlands is brilliant for advancing innovation and I believe we can lead way in construction with both sustainability and innovation".

I think Chris may have sung a line or two from Sweet Caroline before exiting the stage in celebration of our win – always a crowd favourite!
