Chris Massey

CEO

Chris is the Managing Director of Brilliant Ideas and Beresford’s Flooring – both companies support the construction industry.

Beresford’s, was founded in 1967 and are one of the largest precast concrete installation firms in the UK, specialising in precast concrete flooring and stair installations; ready mix concrete supply and in-situ works packages on steel framed buildings. Chris joined them in 1992. It was in 2000, that he took control of the business, and formed Brilliant Ideas as a sister company.

The inspiration for Brilliant Ideas stems from his time ‘working on site’ at Beresford’s Flooring, in his twenties. His understanding and experience of work practices on a construction site meant that whenever he was on a challenging job, he was able to come up with a better way of doing it – which was safer, faster and more economical.

Chris is the inventor of all construction safety products developed by Brilliant Ideas.

In 2021, Chris won Innovation Champion at the Building Innovation Awards.

Dan Westgate

Managing Director

With a background in civil engineering, Dan has worked in the off-site construction industry for the last 23 years, with roles spanning CAD technician and engineering to senior operational and commercial positions. It’s probably fair to say, he’s been doing site survey’s since he was eleven. His father was an architect – so he could do a full site level survey from that early age!

After studying civil engineering, he got involved with schemes for Mercedes AMG Powertrains, Perkins Engines and Ford Motor Group. Over the years, he’s been involved with pulling together commercial bids for various design and build schemes where off-site construction techniques have been adopted, including the Derby Velodrome, Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Lords Cricket Ground, multi-storey carparks, prisons and large scale education schemes.

After starting out in the steel frame sector, he then moved into precast concrete products, working for Tarmac, Bison, Stanton Bonna and FP McCann; before joining Brilliant Ideas in 2020.
